East End Community Center Spring Fundraisers

The East End Community Center is reaching out to the community of Cortland, and beyond,,,,,,, for the two fundraisers that the Community Center’s Advisory Board have launched for this Spring.  Both fundraisers involve members of the community in a fun, inexpensive way.  Why not read on to see how you can help!

The Community Center continues to search for the best recipes from Cortland residents for a community cookbook which will be published this fall.  It’s not too late to send your favorite recipe for inclusion.  Just go to the community center’s web site at www.eastendcenter.org  for the recipe form,  You can then fax it or snail mail  it to the Youth Bureau  (35 Port Watson Street in Cortland, or fax at 607-753-3023).   Be watching for the East End Center cookbook this fall, it should be a real collector’s item with all sorts of historical tidbits about Cortland, as well as the best recipes from our community.  Bon Appetite!

The other spring fundraiser is the Community Center’s Arts and Crafts Extravaganza.  The event will be held at the Center on Saturday, June 6th from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and will feature arts and crafts vendors from around New York State.  There will also be children’s games, face painting and food for purchase.  To be a vendor, stop by the Youth Bureau or the East End Center (see hours of operation below) for an application, or call the Bureau at 753-3021, to have an application mailed to you.

The East End Center Advisory Board hopes you will participate in both of the above activities and encourages you to stop by the community center  at 46 Elm Street in Cortland to check it out if you have not yet done so.  Open Hours are every day from noon to 2:30pm, thanks to our wonderful volunteers from the Area Agency on Aging  RSVP program.  Once at the center, you can check out the free fitness room, take a few laps around the indoor walking track, borrow a book from the lending library, check out the historical displays that cover the walls of the center, pick up copies of the historical lectures that have been held at the center over the years, and share your thoughts about new programs you’d like to see happen in the community.  The center is here to respond to the needs of community members.  We hope you’ll stop by today!
